Straight from our sources: the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has officially granted permission for ATF staff handling Federal Firearms Licensing and NFA Forms to return to work starting Monday, October 20.
What does that mean for you? The ATF’s own insiders estimate there’s about a 9-day backlog in processing right now — but they expect to clear it within 7–10 days once staff are back in office.
Renewals, applications, and NFA submissions are about to start moving again.
There’s no update yet on import-related processing, but we’ll keep you posted the moment our team hears more.
In the meantime, remember: all licensees who submitted renewal paperwork remain authorized to operate pending ATF renewal action.
