Transfer – FFL to FFL Transfer

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: Our shop wants to sell a couple handguns to another gun shop here in town. The way we understand it, there are two ways to legally do this (besides shipping them which would be a waste of time/money since we are both here in the same town). 1) One of our employees (not a licensee or designated RP on the FFL) couriers the items over to their place of business as designated on their FFL. Once there, they take possession of the items and enter them into their A&D book. No 4473 would be required because it is an FFL to FFL transfer. 2) The FFL licensee holder of their business – or a designated RP on their FFL – physically comes into our store with documentation proving they are the licensee or a designated RP, and takes possession of the items. No 4473 would be required because it is an FFL to FFL transfer. Is there any other way to legally do this? Can any employee of theirs – not the licensee or an RP, just an employee – come to our shop and take possession of the items from our FFL on behalf of their FFL, without filling out a 4473?
