Q: I just received a ‘e-blast’ that stated among other things “ATF is using circumstantial evidence to support these charges such as person A used person B’s credit card to buy the firearm.” We have fathers paying for guns for their kids, wives/husbands buying guns for birthdays, father’s day, Christmas. etc. We don’t see non-relatives paying for guns for one another, only family members and as a rule we determine based on the conversations that these aren’t straw purchases. However, now I am concerned that we may be seen as aiding in a straw purchase simply because a parent or spouse used their credit card for their family member’s gun purchase?
