Q: We had a situation the other day that we want to run by FFLGuard and see how we should proceed. A father and son were in looking at pistols. They decided that they each wanted to purchase Sig P320’s. The problem is we are now a public safety firearms dealer. The son produced a current military ID. The father did not fall under the public safety guidelines. They decided that the son would buy both guns under his name. He was put into research by PICS at the time. Since then it has come back approved. We have not called the customer back yet because we wanted your input on the matter. We know that by definition this is considered a straw purchase, but with this being a father and son, we weren’t totally sure how the ATF feels about this situation. Please advise on FFLGuard‘s stance on this situation.
