Q: We are opening a new location in the state of North Carolina. North Carolina requires the customer to either obtain a permit to buy or a concealed carry permit prior to receiving a firearm. These permits are good for up to 5 years and can be used in the place of a NICS check recorded on the form 4473. Is it legal for me as an FFL dealer in North Carolina to run a NICS check in addition to fulfilling the state requirement of obtaining one of these permits? Further more would it be good practice to run NICS on any customer obtaining a firearm from my facility? Does FFLGuard have any experience in this state and have the permits use in place of NICS been found to be problematic?
