NICS – Felon May Have Been Pardoned

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: We had a customer come in with a valid Concealed Carry license for our state. He said that he had a felony conviction but that he had been pardoned. He is 79 years old (born in 1938) so the conviction and pardon could have happened decades ago. He did not present any documentation to back up the pardon, but we know that CCW are not issued to convicted felons. What should we do in this situation? We have not transferred a firearm to him.
