NFA – Time Frame for Keeping Post 1986 Machine Guns

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: Two NFA questions. If you want to split them into two submission that is fine. Questions directed to Rick primarily. First question. If we acquire a Post Sample NFA weapon and complete the LE Demo with the LE dept. that gave us the letter are we allowed to keep the weapon for an indefinite period of time (weeks, months, years) or do we have to transfer it on to another dealer right after completion of the demo? Second question. As we are a licensed NFA class 2 and FFL type 7 I believe we are allowed to build post sample guns for use for demo purposes. Are there any restrictions on how many post samples we can build? Would we be allowed to “rent” usage of those post sample guns to non LE individual at a range or event under our control?
