Q: There is a 2nd Amendment rally in our area to which we are supplying about a dozen firearms for raffles/door prizes. We will be holding the firearms until the ‘winners’ come in to fill out 4473s and have a NICS check. Our questions are: 1.) Any issue with the church purchasing these firearms from us and gifting to the ‘winners’? The church wishes to use their tax exempt status when purchasing these firearms? Or should the ‘winner’ pay tax as they are the ultimate end transferee/owner of the firearm (and not a tax exempt entity). 2.) Secondly, should we take payment directly from the church and put the individuals name on the invoice when they come in to pick it up? Or would selling the church a gift card be a better way to go about taking payment? With all the recent straw purchase buzz, want to make sure this is clearly on the up and up. Thank you! -Openrange
