Q: We are currently in the process of transitioning to a new FFL. Under the old FFL, several firearms were acquired for storage purposes, approximately 10 years ago. In 2008, hand written A&D log books were boxed up in plastic containers and sent to Sport South in Shreveport LA in order to be entered into an electronic system. During the time of shipping or while being stored in a shipping container the books became wet by rain and grew mold. After searching through several companies, we found a place in Atlanta GA that was willing to work with the molded books. They were unable to salvage them. They also provided a complete mold report. The ATF is aware of this incident. My question is how do we properly account for the storage of these guns? Also, how do we properly gather information to reconstruct the acquisition of these guns? There are 3 customers involved and 17 guns. How do we determine which gun belong to which customer? Thank you in advance for your assistance!
