Licensee – Receipt of Raffle Guns

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: We were contacted by the NSSF about receiving guns for a raffle, having an employee maintain possession of them when displayed at a dinner, and then handle the transfers to the winner either by 4473 of FFL transfer. Well due to poor communication we had 5 rifles delivered from LWRC referencing the NSSF staff member and event. However today a LWRC representative showed up to pickup his “sample guns” with no intention of doing a 4473 or proving his status as a RP on LWRC’s FFL. We logged these guns into our books because a) there was no mention of sales samples being shipped to us b) they were in no way labeled or notated as samples, and c) the packing list stated “For NSSF….event… per” and the name of the LWRC rep trying to pick them up and lists our FFL #. We contacted LWRC to confirm wether they were samples and/or if they were transferred to our FFL. If they are able to confirm what proof would we need and is there any way for us to legally and properly delete the guns from our electronic BB and provide them to the rep or are they only two ways out a 4473 or FFL transfer back to LWRC?
