Q: We were reviewing 4473’s and discovered an issue. The customer is a Washington resident, and was picking up a rifle that he had transferred in to us. The 4473 was filled out, and the information was entered online with Oregon State Police for the background check. Before the background check was completed, the customer asked another sales person if he could purchase another firearm. The sales person rang up the sale, and added the firearm to the 4473. Once the background check was approved, another sales person signed the 4473 and released the guns. The issue is the customer is a Washington resident, and the second firearm is a handgun. What is your recommendation for dealing with this? The sale occurred 8/11, and the customer lives about 200 miles away from our shop.
