Licensee – Employee Open Carry

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: Firstly, we are located in Michigan, I know you basically deal with Federal guidelines, but I am hoping for help with this at the sate level. I have hired an employee who is 19 years old. At his last place of employment, he was allowed to concealed carry on the premises of the business. He has requested to do the same here. I HAVE NEVER allowed an employee to concealed carry on the premises before that was not an MI CPL holder. I HAVE NOT allowed the employee in question to conceal carry on our premises. Add in to the mix that our location does maintain a liquor license, (we sell package beer in the hardware side of our store. It is my interpretation of the law that it would not be legal for this employee to concealed carry or even open carry on our premises – (due to age and our liquor license.) I am simply looking for confirmation of this and any other supporting facts you may have for me.
