Licensee – Acceptable Abbreviations

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: I need to find out if certain abbreviations are considered “Approved Postal Abbreviations” for the city of “North Little Rock, Arkansas”. As you know, only “U.S. Postal abbreviations are acceptable” on the form 4473. We have recently been evaluating a decision to utilize the BATFE’s own e4473 program to help our guests more legibly complete 4473’s. However, when completing a few “test” 4473’s, we noticed that the ATF’s own program lists all of the following options as potential city names for the city of North Little Rock. My suspicion is that NONE of these (despite being part of the ATF’s own program) are considered acceptable abbreviations, and that only the full name of the city “North Little Rock” is acceptable. (see attached for a screenshot) N L R NLR N Little Rock No Little Rock N LR North Little Rock.
