ID – Nonimmigrant Alien

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: A gentleman just came in to purchase a pistol (Glock 19). He is an alien admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa and answered “Yes” to question 11l (12.d.1.). He did not have a hunting license, but said he could, “Go down to Wal-Mart, pay $15, and get one.” If he does so, am I permitted to transfer the Glock 19. The guest himself is honest and admits that the Glock 19 will be used for target shooting and home defense and not hunting. (to me, a hunting license has nothing to do with the pistol he wants to purchase. Neither do I blame him for wanting to purchase a gun to come and enjoy).
