Q: Currently, we are making a copy of the customer’s driver’s license. After we have disposed the gun, the 4473’s go upstairs and are scanned for quick retrieval. After scanning the 4473 only, we then shred the copy of the driver’s license. We do not scan the driver’s license. When the customer has to provide alternate documentation, we have been filing the copy of the driver’s license and the other government issued document with the 4473. Do we need to file that with the 4473 or should we be shredding them also?
