Q: He has a question about a legal importing issue for a serial number. Jim Zammillo spoke to client to determine what the issue was. Client imports pump shotguns from Turkey and designates specific serial numbers starting with CLP. These are very clearly laser engraved in gold color on the receivers by the manufacturer. Even though client asks the manufacturer to not serialize the firearms with the manufacturer’s serial number, they sometimes do. Their serial number is typically in the format of 14A2000560 and is in the same finish as the receiver. That number will appear along with client’s CLP serial number, and in fact the CLP serial number may overwrite part of the manufacturer’s serial number. This does not in any way detract from the CLP number as exhibited in the photographs. Client has only been recording their CLP serial number in the A&D Record and seeks confirmation that they do not have to record the manufacturer’s serial number as well in their A&D Record. Client has supplied an image which will be downloaded into this case. Client had other questions regarding FAET and a new FFL. These will be opened as new cases.
