Form 4473 – Keeping Copies After Cancelled Transaction

posted on January 18, 2019

Q: We had a customer in the process of filling out his 4473 for a layaway pick-up when we caught him shoplifting some items. The police came and removed the individual before the background paperwork was completed and the back ground check was done. Should we keep the partial 4473 for any reason or can it be destroyed.
