Q: with the implementation of AB 1964 coming in January – the loophole for single shot exempt (SSE) pistols is closing. I have had at least two manufacturers inform me they intend on continuing to sell SSE AR type pistols after the first. As they read the law it states that the exemption shall not apply to semi auto pistols that were made SSE either permanently or temporarily – they state that they will CERTIFY their pistol were and are SINGLE SHOT from INCEPTION and were never semi auto and converted. I have read the text of AB 1964 and believe they are correct. One of the companies had said they had double checked with their lawyers and have been told to go ahead. so far the two MFGs I know of are Franklin Armory and Phase 5 tactical – FYI – but I am told several others are talking about doing the same thing.
