Q: A local instructor from a vocational school has contacted us in reference to transfer of a handgun. The firearm is a training firearm that is to be used with a simulator system made by a company called Meggitt training systems. The gun will be shipped to us from Meggitt systems. The gun is based on a Sig Sauer pistol. Evidently even though the gun has been disabled to be used as a simulator gun it is still considered a firearm. We have not received the gun yet. The gun is being paid for by the vocational school. We need assistance on how to treat this transfer. How should the gun be logged in? Also who completes form 4473? Are there any special requirements?
