Q: A resident of Arkansas who was traveling through New York with a firearm had it confiscated by the police department in New York. The police department have said that they are not pressing charges on the customer, but need to ship the firearm to an FFL in Arkansas so that he can pick it up once he gets home. What would the process be for us to receive that firearm from a police department if they do not have an FFL? Are we violating any laws (Federal, Arkansas State, or New York State) by receiving it from the police department instead of an FFL or individual. Should we require the Police Department to find an FFL in New York to ship the firearm to us?
