Q: We are gearing up to move from paper to electronic A&D records and per your response to Helpdesk question 10565 we will be having our current electronic database wiped clean and start fresh. We know we must log the open lines out to ?Disposed to Electronic A&D Record? and must then turn around and enter the data in our electronic A&D system. Will a reference to a paper A&D book, page, and line number suffice or will we need to list manufacturer, importer, model, serial, caliber, etc. for every serial? Additionally we found that our proposed system is incapable of using the & symbol. It simply does not recognize it as a valid character. This would mean that every Smith & Wesson and every M&P firearm could be considered to be incorrectly logged in. The system can us the + symbol so the entry would appear as Smith + Wesson. Would this be acceptable or can we file for a variance?
