Q: We are trying to improve our practices on listing the Manufacturer and/or Importer on both the A&D Record and the 4473. However, there is a sentence in the best practice document that is causing us confusion. It reads, ?For example all Glocks made in the U.S. used to be exported meaning this entry would just be Glock/Glock Inc. as all Glocks sold here were imported. Now, some Glocks made in the U.S. are sold here so the entry would just be the manufacturer.? Should this instead read, ?For example all Glocks sold in the U.S. used to be imported meaning this entry would just be Glock/Glock Inc. as all Glocks sold here were imported. Now, some Glocks made in the U.S. are sold here so the entry would just be the manufacturer.? We are trying to get this straight for Glock (among others) and inform our receiving team on the correct process. Also, as we have not listed both manufacturer and importer in the past. We have just over 2104 records stretching back to October 2012 without having the manufacturer and importer both listed (and in many cases having our distributor?s description of the firearm instead of the actual written information on the firearm). We keep our A&D Record Electronically in ARS. Should we go back and change these records, or simply correct our process going forward?
