Q: Here in North Carolina we use pistol purchase permits in order to obtain a handgun without a Concealed Handgun Permit. The purchase permit is obtained at the county level at the respective sheriffs department. I have read through NC firearm laws regarding this and cannot find the answer to our question. Does the address on the purchase permit have to match the residency that the recipient has provided with his ID and what he has placed on the 4473 at time of transfer? It can be interpreted that so long as the recipient has stayed within the county that person was issued the permit it would still be valid, but I am looking for a further confirmation of that due to vagueness of this answer in NC firearms law.
