Q: This HelpDesk Question is being opened as a clarification to HelpDesk Case #15408: We had a customer looking to consign a Heckler & Koch (H&K) USC rifle that someone had converted into a pistol by replacing the factory 16-inch barrel with a 7-inch barrel and the factory butt stock with a pistol stabilizing brace. The markings did not appear to be correct and, when we contacted H&K, we were informed that it had left the factory as a rifle and had been converted by someone after it was sold. Based on information that the firearm had been converted from its factory configuration by the customer or a former owner, we have declined to sell it on consignment for the customer. Do the modifications that were made to this firearm affect its legality?
