At FFLGuard, we understand that navigating the complex landscape of firearms regulations in the United States can be challenging. That’s why we’ve developed our proprietary Law Plus Guidelines (LPGs)—a concise, two-page roadmap crafted from legal precedents, professional insights, and years of proven experience. These guidelines are designed to empower Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) and provide answers to their legal questions. FFLGuard’s LPGs allow FFLs to not only meet but exceed legal requirements, ensuring your business operates smoothly and stays ahead of potential compliance issues.

What Are Our LPGs?
Exclusive to FFLGuard participants, our LPGs represent best-in-class business practices and internal controls that go above and beyond what is required by law. By integrating these guidelines into your operations, you’re ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting your business against potential risks and setting a standard of excellence in the firearms industry.
How LPGs Work Within Our Program Plans
Throughout all of our Program Plans, we offer a selection of “basic services” available to all participants, including access to our Law Plus Guidelines. LPGs are included as part of every Plan offered.
Service Eligibility Through LPGs
In order to remain eligible for non-billed services and reduced enrollment rates, participants must comply with the LPG policies. However, failure to follow the Guidelines does not eliminate the Participant’s access to legal services from FFLGuard Attorneys. Instead, FFLs who fail to comply but have still paid their Yearly Fee are represented at courtesy rates less than the FFLGuard Attorney’s normal and customary rate.
LPG Point System
Each guideline on our list is given a point value, with 100 total points available. As long as the client meets 85% of the LPG point threshold, as determined by National Coordinating Counsel, then that client qualifies for a suite of complementary legal advice and protection services within the scope of their plan, including the ATF Audit Intervention Unit and Civil Litigation Defense Unit. This provides an FFL with robust defense against challenges from the ATF or anti-gun groups.
Even if you fall short of the 85% threshold, FFLGuard offers cost-effective representation from our team of firearms-specific attorneys and compliance experts at discounted rates, ensuring you always have the support you need.
Clients who join FFLGuard without any current or pending issues, maintain this status for 90 days, and are able to reach 85 out of 100 points from the LPGs will pay no additional legal fees for our National Coordinating Counsel services in case of ATF administrative action.
FAQs
Our LPGs are based on evolving legal precedents and professional insights and are updated routinely based on legal judgements, issuance of Rulings, or updates to laws and various regulations.
Several different actions against a firearm licensee who doesn’t meet the necessary requirements, including state-level penalties, ATF issued warning letters, ATF warning conferences, and ATF issuance of a notice of revocation.
If you are new to the FFLGuard Program, required fees will be determined based upon a case analysis by the National Coordinating Counsel. However, you will be in good hands no matter what ATF action you might be facing – FFLGuard has successfully represented more FFLs to retain their license than any other group or firm in operation today.
