The role of FFLGuard’s Special Operations Branch (“SOB”) is to assist (1) FFLGuard’s National Coordinating Counsel (“NCC”) and Director, Field Operations Group (“DFOG”), (2) particular HOT clients participating in the FFLGuard program (“the Program”), and (3) specialized counsel, subject matter experts, and professionals, all at the sole direction of the NCC. Members of the SOB are either specialized firearms counsel or have no less than 10 years experience with ATF as either a Special Agent or as part of its Special Executive Service.
The SOB utilizes connections established within the industry (NRA, NSSF, other state run firearms organizations and third-party advocate groups), within the Federal Government (ATF, ICE, TTB, etc.), within State Governments (AG offices, State Police, etc.), within Gun Control groups (Brady Center, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, etc.), within FFLGuard’s Field Operations Group and its Professionals, and with an other organization, group, or individual that may benefit FFLGuard clients. The SOB deals directly with HOT FFLGuard clients who the NCC determines to be in critical or compromised condition; handles all high-profile risk management and damage control scenarios for FFLGuard; works to further the Program’s goals from with ATF and the ATF Association; and accomplishes whatever tasks may be issued from the NCC.
Currently, the SOB includes:
Jim Zammillo, FFLGuard‘s ATF Liaison and Special Projects Supervisor, joined FFLGuard in 2011. He is the principal in his own consulting company – Ponte Nuovo Consulting, LLC – and assumes this role after 40 years of BATF service, most recently as the Deputy Assistant Director of Field Operations (Industry Operations).
Michael Bouchard joined FFLGuard in 2011 as its Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Special Agent Attaché and Liaison to the ATFA, which is the association for former ATF personnel. He currently serves as President of Security Dynamics Group LLC, a professional consulting service.
Christopher Renzulli is a partner with the Renzulli Law Firm, and joined FFLGuard in 2009 as its Special Counsel for Litigation Matters and is detailed out to the SOB from FFLGuard‘s Consulting & Advisory Group. Mr. Renzulli’s specialized practice focuses on the firearms industry in many capacities, including the defense of product defect claims, preparation of product literature, conducting recalls and retrofits, ATF compliance, and all related issues affecting the Firearms and Sporting Goods industries.
